2008 New BAWA Board of Directors

Fall 2008 Season will be announced after June 18th

The Bay Area Wrestling Association has recently gone through a major transition.

The board of directors at their annual meeting (in September 08) felt that it was
time to put the BAWA season on hold, let the local clubs regroup, and rethink if
there was a need for BAWA. Tournaments have been understaffed, and have had
inconsistent turnouts. There have been some positives over the last few years which
included running some fine quality tournaments using new pairing formats that gave
everybody three matches in record time. Finances grew from $900 with no medals and
a shortage of materials to $3000.00 and a supply of medals for the next season.
Putting the BAWA season on hold resulted in a record turn-out at our April 21st
meeting.

Vic Anastasio - President resigned from office due to work and family time
obligations. Vic will continue to support BAWA as a consultant to the new board and
volunteer at events.
Nori Gosse - Treasurer resigned but will continue to help pairing at the Far Western
Championships
Keith Spataro - Secretary - Resigned to focus on his College Program and Cultural
exchange position
Casey Logwood - Vice President - Resigned to focus on his team/club

Newly Elected BAWA Board of Directors - Effective April 21st 2008.
President - Ricardo Garcia - Wrestling Coach at Serra High School in San Mateo

Vice President - Lars Jensen - Continuing Board member - SF State Head Coach

Vice President - Ken Richau - Terra Nova Head Coach
Treasurer - Ian Bronstein - Terra Linda Head Coach
Secretary - Alan Morris - Redwood Head Coach

This new board has a positive energy, great visions, and some new support
which should return BAWA to being a force in Bay Area Wrestling. A
special thanks to the past board members for keeping BAWA alive and
setting up a transition for a new team of directors.

There will be a BAWA meeting on June 18th, 7:00 PM at Archbishop Riordan High School
in San Francisco. At the meeting a Fall Schedule will be set as well as a support
team will be organized to run the events.
